CAPACIDAD DISCRIMINANTE DE LAS VARIABLES DE LA BATERÍA MCC-94 EN EL TRASTORNO POR DÉFICIT DE ATENCIÓN CON HIPERACTIVIDAD

Introduction: The ADHD is frequently a motif of consultation for behavioral alteration in childhood. It is characterized by a persistent pat-tern of inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity. There are few tools for ADHD diagnosis that count with statistical validation studies. Objective: Compare the performance in a computerized battery for the executive functions and attention assessment (Cognitive Computerized Monitoring) in a group of children with ADHD and in a control group.Method: Fifteen children between 8 and 11 years were selected following the DSM-IV criteria and by an individual neuropsychological study. All of them were of the combined subtype. The controls were 16 children of the same age range and socioeconomic level, good intellectual level and with-out evident behavior alterations.Results: We found statistically significant differences between both groups in tasks of maintaining the attention, selective attention, times of reaction and cognitive flexibility.Conclusions: The ADHD children group showed significantly affected the performance in numerous variables of battery. A statistical analysis was made to recognize the magnitude of the difference between the groups and to offer important data for the development of future studies.Introducción: El TDAH es uno de los más frecuentes motivos de consulta por alteración comportamental en la infancia. Se caracteriza por un patrón persistente de inatención e hiperactividad-impulsividad. Son escasas las herramientas para su diagnóstico que cuentan con estudios de validación estadística.Objetivo: Comparar el desempeño en una batería computarizada para la valoración de la atención y las funciones ejecutivas (Monitoreo Cognitivo Computarizado) en un grupo de niños portadores de TDAH y un grupo control.Método: Quince niños de 8 a 11 años fueron seleccionados siguiendo los criterios del DSM-IV y por un estudio neuropsicológico individual. Todos fueron del subtipo combinado. Los controles fueron 16 niños del mismo rango etáreo y nivel socio-económico, de buen nivel intelectual y sin alte-raciones comportamentales evidentes.Resultados: Se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre ambos grupos en tareas de atención sostenida, atención selectiva, tiempos de reacción y flexibilidad cognitiva.Conclusiones: Los niños del grupo TDAH mostraron un desempeño signifi-cativamente afectado en numerosas variables de la batería MCC-94 que comprometen funciones ya consideradas alteradas en anteriores estudios. Se realizó un análisis estadístico que permitió reconocer la magnitud de la diferencia entre los grupos y brinda datos relevantes para el desarrollo de futuros estudios
