A pesquisa participante e a construção do protagonismo camponês na transição agroecológica: o caso do assentamento Sílvio Rodrigues, Goiás, Brasil

A research-action/participatory research project was developed in the Silvio Rodrigues land settlement in Alto Paraíso de Goiás, Brazil, between the years of 2014 and 2016, as social action from the Centre for Food Security (Núcleo de Segurança Alimentar – NASPA), Centro UnB Cerrado, University of Brasília. The university offered knowledge and academic infrastructure, and through dialogue and analysis of different social contexts the participatory research was developed together with the small holding agricultural producers in the land settlement, towards the solution of challenges identified by themselves. Based in the interdisciplinary paradigm of agroecology, the experience of co-constructing the research was analysed in conjunction with the potential and challenges faced by the small land holders, making evident the instability of land settlements from agrarian reform in Brazil. In time it also became evident to all the desire to live from the land, the peasant origins of the majority of the small producers, and their importance for the local food market. The participatory process helped to achieve better social organization and to further the agroecological transition. It also sparked important reflections: for the small producers, on the need for social organisation; for the academic researchers, on a social role for the university, on the importance of discussing participatory methodologies in the context of socially excluded populations, and on the role of social movements. We raised awareness of the role of agroecology-based family agriculture for food security and for environmental conservation.Este trabalho trata de projeto de pesquisa-ação/pesquisa participante desenvolvido no Assentamento Sílvio Rodrigues situado no município de Alto Paraíso de Goiás, entre 2014 e 2016, como ação de Extensão Universitária do Núcleo de Segurança Alimentar (NASPA) do Centro UnB Cerrado. A pesquisa teve como proposta realizar ações participativas, oferecendo o conhecimento e a estrutura acadêmica para que, por meio de processos dialógicos e análises de contextos em diversas escalas, avançássemos juntos na busca de soluções para problemas apontados pelos assentados. Fundamentada na transdisciplinaridade e no paradigma agroecológico, condizentes com a metodologia utilizada, a pesquisa propiciou a análise do processo de construção vivenciado, assim como as potencialidades e desafios enfrentados pelos assentados em sua trajetória até aqui, mostrando a dificuldade de estabilização dos assentamentos da reforma agrária no Brasil. Ao mesmo tempo, é visível o desejo de viver na terra, a origem campesina da maioria dos assentados e a importância de sua produção para o mercado local, o que foi sendo percebido por todos ao longo do tempo. O processo participativo propiciou melhoria na organização social e na transição agroecológica e trouxe importantes reflexões: para os agricultores sobre a necessidade de organização, e para os pesquisadores sobre o papel social da Universidade e sobre a importância da discussão sobre metodologias participativas no contexto de populações excluídas socialmente, e ainda distantes dos movimentos sociais.
