El petróleo mexicano y la política exterior de México: del auge petrolero a la privatización

The aim of the article is to know the impact of oil on Mexico’s foreign policy from the stage known as the oil boom to the present, when it coincides with the neoliberal model in Mexico. The paper shows the most important actions of the administration of Vicente Fox on oil and its foreign policy. The author poses as a main thesis that the neoliberal governments have remained distant as a transcendent act or make decisions hat alter the dynamics of international oil, focusing its efforts on consolidating itself as the provider of insurance in the United States and implement domestic policies aimed at Mexican oil privatization, through the structural dismantling of Petroleos Mexicanos.El objetivo del trabajo es conocer el impacto que ha tenido el petróleo en la política exterior de México desde la etapa conocida como el auge petrolero hasta la actualidad, momento que coincide con el modelo neoliberal en México. El trabajo presenta las acciones más importantes de la administración de Vicente Fox respecto al petróleo y su relación con la política exterior. El autor plantea, como tesis principal, que los gobiernos neoliberales se han mantenido distantes en cuanto a pronunciarse o tomar decisiones trascendentes que alteren la dinámica internacional del petróleo, centrando sus esfuerzos en consolidarse como el abastecedor seguro de Estados Unidos y en implementar políticas internas tendientes a la privatización el petróleo mexicano, a través de la desarticulación estructural de Petróleos Mexicanos
