En este trabajo se analiza la forma en que el historiador trinitario C. L. R. James articuló las dimensiones de “raza” y “clase” en su libro Los jacobinos negros. Toussaint L’Ouverture y la Revolución de Haití. Para alcanzar este objetivo se hacen algunas precisiones conceptuales a partir de autores como Stuart Hall, Antonio Gramsci y Franzt Fanon —entre otros—; precisiones que permiten evidenciar que estas dos dimensiones no son antagónicas, sino que pueden confluir y complementarse en una matriz analítica compleja y multidimensional como la construida por James.
