: Commissive is a kind of illocutionary act that the speakers use to commit themselves to do some future action. The aim of this research is to examine the types of commissive speech act and its politeness strategy in English translation of Holy Qur’an Surah Thaha by M. A. S Abdel Haleem. The theory of commissive speech act is taken from Searle’s theory and the theory about politeness strategy is taken from Brown and Levinson’s theory. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method and the data sources used by the researcher from English translation of Holy Qur’an Surah Thaha by M. A. S. Abdel Haleem.
