This article analyzes the intertextual dialogue between the Bible and a small gallery of novels and stories that constitute Honoré de Balzac’s The Human Comedy. Based on recent essays by French critics we point out that Balzac would have used the structure of the biblical narrative and some of the stories and characters as a reference, model and inspiration to devolop his great literary Project.
