Los teléfonos inteligentes y su incidencia en el rendimiento académico de los alumnos preuniversitarios. (Original)

The survey applied to the students of the Leveling course, second academic period (SPA), Headquarters "La María", of the Quevedo State Technical University, allowed to detect the incidence of smartphones and their applications in academic performance. The methodology is conceived from theoretical elements that support it as a scientific result. The sample is 234 students, between 17 and 24 years old. Results reveal that most of them own a smartphone. They state that they generally do not use the applications for academic activities, with the exception of the Google search engine. Conversely, a high percentage use their phone for social media, playing games, chatting or other non-academic activity. However, they accept that the improper use of smartphones affects their academic performance. The contribution of this study is to socialize the importance of the use of smartphones in curricular and pedagogical activities, through previously installed applications and those existing in the technology market, as part of strategies that strengthen academic performance.La encuesta aplicada a los alumnos del curso de Nivelación, segundo periodo académico (SPA), Sede “La María”, de la Universidad Técnica Estatal de Quevedo, permitió detectar la incidencia de los teléfonos inteligentes y sus aplicaciones en el rendimiento académico. La metodología se concibe a partir de elementos teóricos que fundamentan el resultado científico. La muestra es de 234 estudiantes, entre 17 y 24 años de edad. Los resultados revelan que la mayoría poseen un teléfono inteligente. Manifiestan que generalmente no utilizan las aplicaciones para actividades académicas, con excepción del buscador Google. De forma contraria, un elevado porcentaje utiliza su teléfono para redes sociales, jugar, chatear u otra actividad no académica. Sin embargo, aceptan el uso inadecuado de los teléfonos inteligentes afecta su rendimiento académico. La contribución de este estudio es socializar la importancia del uso de los teléfonos inteligentes en las actividades curriculares y pedagógicas, mediante las aplicaciones previamente instaladas y las existentes en el mercado tecnológico, siendo parte de las estrategias que fortalecen el rendimiento académico
