Music in virtual worlds. Study on the representation spaces

The sites of representation of music have been defined by the equipollence between its expressive value and transfer value. In this dialectic game, the media have had a determining influence as spaces of musical communication, from the sound on the radio to its visual representation on a screen. Currently, this communication is through a multimodal integration of media in which music has been enlarged in both their productive activity and in consumption. It is in this cross media where there is the interest of our research and extension in particular in its more inclusive and interactive: virtual worlds. Objective: perform a characterization of the metaverse music from analysis of the most used as a musical representation space. The technical documentation has been the method used to obtain: a) a census record current virtual worlds dedicated to the musical representation, and b) a functional analysis of significant cases. From this analysis presents various possibilities of application of immersive environments both from a technical point of view and from his ability as an interactive means. In conclusion an assessment is made of the opportunity that these metaverses offer the musical performance in which, in the form of discussion, pose new future scenarios
