While research on racism in Australia has dealt extensively with the history and extent of racism, there is a major gap in regard to quantitative material on popular attitudes as well as experiences of racism. Another gap has been a lack of scholarly consideration of primary-level anti-racism. Over the last ten years, the Challenging Racism Project has been collecting primary empirical data on racist attitudes and on experiences of racism across Australia. The current over-riding aim of that project is to use the data that have been collected for the development of advice on anti-racism.
