This study investigates educational resilience through the narratives of displaced African students from the Great Lakes region of Africa and surrounding countries, in Australian tertiary education. The study provides an insider’s understanding of events in order to capture the educational experiences of refugee students in general, and African refugee students in particular. The study uses life history narratives of participants to explore the factors that enable students with a refugee background to be educationally resilient in spite of challenging life circumstances.
