(Unsettling the Iranian diaspora : nation, religion and the conditions of exile)

The classic Jewish diaspora, emerged from the historic dispersal of twelve tribes of Israel, and also the Armenian diaspora, the origins of which saw the expulsion of Armenians from Turkey in the early 20th century (see Tölölyan 1991). The experience of dispersal and exile is considered to be central components of the term diaspora. In both cases, modern diasporas have communities formed in the context of national projects, where life was fulfilled and resulted in the formation of new nation States
