Transfer of Technology

Transfer of technology, often referred to as TOT, is a conceptual framework that integrates empirical generalizations and mid-range theories about transfer of technical, organisational and operational knowledge in a variety of forms and contexts between institutional providers and recipients. It articulates the attributes of technical knowledge, organisational mechanisms used for its transfer, characteristics of the provider and recipient, national policies and intellectual property rights law, and other contextual factors, and how all these elements interact, to predict outcomes of improved technological capabilities of institutions and nations.
