This paper outlines the analysis of a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) with high performance (torque, power factor & efficiency). Analytical method and Finite Element Method (FEM) is employed to analyse solid rotor structure. A number of tests carried out to find the optimum configuration that can improve torque, pf by enhancing saliency ratio. The FEM simulation results graphically are presented to show the saliency ratio and machine characteristics (location, number of barriers & wall width)
