Autophagy, a mechanism of cellular self-consumption for recyclingof intracellular components, has recently attracted much interest in cancer therapy research. This is because autophagy inhibition is reported to increase sensitivity to radiotherapy and chemotherapy in various cancers (Lai et al., 2014).
