This article discusses the changes of the role of the Australian Defence Forces (ADF) since the declaration of the "War on Terror". The author argues that since September 11, 2001, the federal government has substantially increased the peacetime powers of the military for domestic purposes. Conditioning the public to accept the change in core business of the armed forces to include domestic security which has always been a responsibility of each state’s police force, according to the Australian Constitution
