A university wide program is currently underway at UWS to clarify and make explicit the criteria and standards under which student work is to be assessed. In all subjects, students are to be provided with a ‘Learning Guide’ which contains the listed criteria for the area being assessed and the breakdown of marks to be awarded. Standards may be illustrated by samples of the kinds of answers that would receive a particular grade and typical comments that such an answer would receive from the marker. Assessment standards must be closely aligned with the learning outcomes set out for the subject
