Eating disorders

Eating disorders are serious mental health problems wih important m edical comorbities. Features include behavioursm such as restrictive dieting, vimiting and compulsive exercise, that ai to address extreme oncernes about body shape and weight. Such body image concerns dominate the person’s self-view and are a core preoccupation. People with an eating disorder often have irregular eating patterns, fluctuating between severe food restriction and overeating that becomes out of control (binge eating). Current diagnotic schemes define three eating disorders: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and eating disorders not other specified (EDNOS) or atypical anoriexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa. The former are well-defined eating disorders, but are less common that EDNOS in the community or primary care settings
