Russian Aggression against Ukraine and Georgia: Similarities and Differences in The Aspect of The International Law This master‘s thesis study analyzes two acts of aggression that have shocked the international community in the recent years. After quite a long time, these conflicts have managed to remind to the world of such concepts of international law as – occupation and the fact that these conflicts might still happen even during the 21st century. The thesis itself may be divided into two parts. The first part presents the factual circumstances of the conflicts in question, their purpose is twofold, first of all to introduce or remind the circumstances of the conflicts in question, and secondly, to define the further scope of the situations, as both conflicts are not completely resolved. The second part analyzes the main conflicts of this thesis. The first armed conflict between Russia and Georgia in 2008 and the second in 2014 between Russia and Ukraine. These conflicts are examined according to the international law which was in force at the time of the conflicts, to determine whether the use of armed force to analyze these conflicts in the context of armed conflicts, and ultimately answer the question of whether a situation that occurred between the states can be considered an act of aggression against another state and whether such actions can be justified. It should also be noted that aggression is one of the most serious crimes within international law, which falls under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court alongside such crimes as genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. Also, examining each conflict we can notice both similarities and differences in between each of the conflicts, which makes the comparative analysis of the conflicts very important as well
