For Paul, the principle of God’s unwavering faithfulness is the relevant starting point. This implies that the promises to Israel still are valid. The gentiles should therefore maintain humility toward the Jews even if they reject the belief in Jesus as the Messiah. Unfortunately, this admonition has to a large extent been overlooked through the history of the church. There is only one way to God, but the gentile church has not replaced Israel.
