El español como lengua extranjera a través del teatro: una propuesta didáctica para alumnos adolescentes sinohablantes de nivel B2

It has been already a long time since theatre was first used as an educational tool for teaching Spanish as a second language, owing to the numerous advantages that it offers to the process of teaching-learning in the context of training in a second language. The teaching proposal that we present here is focused on the specific needs and problems that Chinese-speaking students confront to express themselves in the Spanish as a second language classroom. Foremost among these problems, is the fear of making mistakes that hinder their drive to speak in the classroom, which in turn becomes an obstacle for their own learning. With the purpose of providing the students with new strategies to strengthen their oral expression, this research takes theatre and its strategies as the main vehicle through which a series of activities are put forward that will allow the student, on one side, to develop his communication skills and on the other side to improve his or her self-confidence and self esteem, so the student can better trust in his ability to orally express himself in Spanish. At the same time, the student will acquire a cultural background through the topics and expressions that are often found in theatre plays, which will allow him to consolidate his intercultural skills. We believe that the activities that we present in this work will help the students to feel safer, more confident and reassured in the classroom and, therefore, will lead to a significant improvement in the development of their Spanish speaking skills.Desde hace ya muchos años, el teatro como herramienta didáctica se ha venido aplicando a la enseñanza del español como lengua extranjera (ELE) debido a los numerosos beneficios que este aporta al proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de una lengua extranjera (LE). La propuesta didáctica que aquí se presenta se centra en las dificultades a las que se enfrentan los alumnos sinohablantes para expresarse en el aula de ELE debido a su miedo a cometer errores, lo cual les impide sacar el máximo provecho de las clases. Con el propósito de dotar a los alumnos de nuevas estrategias para afianzar su expresión oral, esta propuesta toma como vehículo principal el teatro y sus técnicas aplicables al aula de ELE, a través de las cuales se plantea una secuencia de actividades que permiten al alumno, por un lado, desarrollar su competencia comunicativa y, por otro, favorecer su desinhibición otorgándole la confianza y la autoestima necesarias para poder expresarse oralmente en español. Al mismo tiempo, se le proporciona una base cultural de la lengua meta gracias a los referentes teatrales y literarios, lo cual le va a permitir afianzar la competencia intercultural. Confiamos en esta propuesta como medio para lograr que los alumnos se sientan más seguros y confiados en el aula, y todo ello se traduzca en una mejora significativa en el desarrollo de su expresión oral
