As memórias de um imigrante alemão no Brasil: a História da família Strobel

In the 1850s, Germany had not completed its process of territorial unification and went through periods of political tension. In this context, the Christian August Strobel family left from Glauchau, in Saxony, towards the American continent. The book Memoirs of Gustav Hermann Strobel: reports of a pioneer of German immigration in Brazil", consist of a work written by Gustav, Christian’s son, but not restricted to his reminiscences. The text is an important source of studies on German immigration in Brazil. The work, with a new translation coordinated by Professor Sergio Odilon Nadalin, allows us to perceive the difficulties faced by the pioneers of immigration, Germanic or not, as well as the analysis of tactics of social insertion in the receiving society.Na década de 1850, a Alemanha não havia concluído seu processo de unificação territorial e passava por períodos de tensões políticas. Nesse contexto, a família Christian August Strobel deixou Glauchau, na Saxônia, em direção ao continente americano. O livro Memórias de Gustav Hermann Strobel: relatos de um pioneiro da imigração alemã no Brasil, consiste em uma obra escrita por Gustav, filho de Christian, mas não restrita às suas reminiscências. O texto é uma importante fonte para estudos sobre a imigração alemã no Brasil. A obra, com nova tradução coordenada pelo professor Sergio Odilon Nadalin, permite perceber as dificuldades enfrentadas pelos pioneiros da imigração, germânica ou não, bem como a análise de táticas de inserção social na sociedade receptora
