This article analyses the relation between aesthetic thought and history writing in lectures by Latin-American writer Alejo Carpentier. It is argued that Carpentier’s thought on novelists are signs of exhaustion which conducted Cuban literary works, as a result from the perception that art in modern times has deviated from its ends – which is to be the base for living in society. Carpentier sees the need for new references to guide Latin America in its destination, based on a process of translation, which brings forth new forms of collective identities, having in the past the prime element for creation of Latin-American identity, as part of its form of figuring out the nation.Este artigo tenciona analisar a relação entre pensamento estético...
