Los materiales fotográficos: su organización y tratamiento en la biblioteca

The main aspects of photographic material in the library are analized through the compilation and study of the special literature concerned. Firstly, the bibliographic description, and the classification are examined. Then, in different OPACs by means of Internet, it is possible to see how the cataloging and retrieval of the above mentioned material is carried out. Criteria about its acquisition, preservation and storage are also provided. Furthermore, the advantages and disadvantages of photography as library material are remarked. To conclude, the different steps to follow in the document chain are supplied, which will lead to a process suitable enough to meet the users‘ needs.Se analizan, a través del relevamiento de la literatura de la especialidad, los principales aspectos vinculados con el tratamiento y organización del material fotográfico. En primer lugar, se examina la descripción bibliográfica y la clasificación. Luego, se observa en distintos OPACs con acceso a través de Internet cómo se efectúa la catalogación y la recuperación de este material. Se brindan pautas acerca de su adquisición, preservación y almacenamiento. Además, se destacan las ventajas y desventajas de la fotografía como material en la biblioteca. Para concluir, se presentan las etapas de la cadena documental que permiten estructurar el procesamiento de este tipo de ítem en función de las necesidades de los usuarios
