The Afghan youth in the Republic of Slovenia

In my masters thesis I research the life of Afghan youths in Slovenia who applied for the international protection. These youths were underage when they applied for the international protection in Slovenia, which was granted by the Ministry of Internal affairs, but only until they legally became of age, after that the protection was no longer extended. In the first part I present the population of refugees and particularly point out the population of unaccompanied minors. I continue with the presentation of their journey to Europe, their integration in the host country and dedicate some words to the social conditions in Afghanistan. In my second, empirical part, with the help of interviews with two Afghan youths, two Ministry of Internal affairs officials, two organizations (Slovenian philanthropy and Fridolin organization), which actively cooperate with the already mentioned youths, radio Val 202 journalist and a person familiar with Afghanistan, I research the life of Afghan youths in Slovenia. Among other my research results show that Slovenian politics still has many weaknesses (inconsistency with the international law and in some parts with the national legislation, etc.) and that Afghan youths in Slovenia, due to long lasting procedures and responsibilities being diverted from one institution to another, are met with constant insecurity regarding their future
