Reading interests and booktalk in the first grade of primary school

The purpose of the master´s thesis has been to apply the Aidan Chambers´ Tell me approach on the didactic project Let´s discover contemporary Slovenian children´s literature authors and their work and to determine the adequacy of its use in the first grade of primary school. The first part of the master´s thesis includes theoretical bases and explanations about didactics of children´s literature and its goals. In brief, I will introduce standards for choosing a literary work, phases of class interpretation and theories of reading interests from three authors: Joseph A. Appleyard, Metka Kordigel Aberšek and Perry Nodelman. The master´s thesis deals with a brief biography and bibliography of Aidan Chambers. The Tell me approach is described in detail. The practical part shows all seven meetings, that form the didactic project Let´s discover contemporary Slovenian children´s literature authors and their work. In the project, Nodelman´s pleasures of reading are taken into account, but the stress is on the usage of the Tell me approach. The project was implemented in The Primary School Toneta Čufarja. There were 24 students involved. The last part of the master´s thesis includes lesson plans, analyses and children´s responses. For thoroughly demonstration there are graphics enclosed. On the end of the thesis, there are findings, that refer to defined hypotheses
