The biggest part of book, literary and library education is stimulating reading and respect towards the book. We were interested in finding how teachers do it in the first educational period, when students are most sensible to their influence. It is unnecessary to emphasise how important good reading is for the development of the literate individual. In the theoretical part has been presented the beginning of literacy and development of reading abilities, traits and strategies of reading fiction and non-fiction material and reading motivation which is the key point to start reading.
