E-textbook for teaching science in first two periods of elementary school in Slovenia

This diploma work addresses the area of e-textbooks for teaching science at primary school in first six grades. The theoretical part defines the concept of e-textbook and later on presents the theory of multimedia learning by Richard Mayer and criteria for the production and evaluation of e-textbooks. It also features a short reflection on the reasons for and against the inclusion of e-textbooks in science teaching. The situation of availability and use of e-textbooks for teaching science in Slovenia is examined in terms of the defined criteria of making e-books and theory of multimedia learning. An evaluation of the selected e-textbook is made on the basis of criteria that have been prepared under the review of the scientific literature. This is followed by a survey conducted among teachers who teach science subjects in primary schools from first to sixth grade. The final part of diploma work contains guidelines for the successful manufacture, deployment and evaluation of e-textbooks for the teaching of science. These are aimed at broader field of professional education
