The purpose of my dissertation is to explore the light-dark art element in the graphic etching technique and the process of creating etching, to study the works of art of important graphic artists in the History of Art and finally to present my own graphic works. I have focused on the graphic etching technique and its forms, etching and reservage. In addition to this technique I have been primarily interested in the art form of light and dark contrasts well present in the chosen graphic technique. I have explored the graphic works of the following artists: Rembrandt, Harmenszoon van Rijn, Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso, Janez Bernik, Bojan Kovačič and I have tried to determine the differences among them by formal analysis of their wo...
