Artistic creaton in the third age

The purpose of this thesis work is to present creativity as an important part of art. During the study of art pedagogy, the students become familiar with characteristics and process of children and youngsters’ artistic creativity considering the theoretical and practical aspects. In this work, I also dedicated some of my time to old people, because they play an important role in my life. I took care of an old lady who influenced my way of thinking and living. She lived to a great age and died this summer at the age of 102. During my visit at the home for the elderly, I started to wonder about many questions regarding their free time: what are they doing all day long, how do they entertain and relieve their boredom of a long day, do they create art? And then I noticed a place for creating and displaying their products. On the basis of my visits at the home for the elderly, I decided to focus my attention on artistic creativity of third age people. The leading questions for my research were: what is the Third Age, who belongs to this period and how is it defined, why is it so special, how do they deal with creativity, what are the conditions for creativity of third age people, what kinds of activities are provided in the home for the elderly, does artistic creativity help to find the personal fulfilment and lead to relaxation and satisfaction? I also took part at the arts colony in the home for the elderly. I found about this colony by accident. I wanted to visit Mrs “Ančka”, who moved to the other home for the elderly. However I didn’t find her in the one I visited, but I found out a lot about arts colony there
