Acquisition of the language of environment with the help of puppets in a bilingual area

The thesis presents the role of puppets in acquisition of the language of environment, in my case the Hungarian language, at a bilingual area. In the theoretic part it stresses the importance of acquiring language in a bilingual area and presents the importance of puppets as a means of motivation. In the empiric part, the thesis presents activities with puppets in the Bilingual Nursery School Lendava, more specifically the introduction of a pet puppet into a group and activities to develop communication with a puppet in various techniques. In the empiric part the thesis monitors the extent to which the activities influenced the acquisition of language in the bilingual area and whether they added to the communication skills in the language of the environment, here specifically the Hungarian language. The thesis monitors the development of six children from monolingual Slovenian families in acquiring the language of the environment within the period of three months. The language development of the children was determined using language tasks and anecdotal notes. In the last part of the thesis, I present the results of the tasks which present the progress of the children in the development of their oral expression and understanding of the language of environment
