Spongophyllum kunthi SCHLÜTER, 1880, type species of the genus Beugniesastraea n. gen. has been sampled at the base of the Givet Limestone from Resteigne, with B. parvistella (SCHLÜTER, 1882). In this locality and at Pondrôme, Sociophyllum elongatum (SCHLÜTER, 1881), S. torosum (SCHLÜTER, 1881) and S. birenheidi n. sp. occur in the same level. Four of these taxa characterize the Loogh Formation, at the base of the Givetian from the Eifel Hills in Germany. The Couvinian species Beugniesastraea varia (SCHLÜTER, 1889) is also described
