Ischämische Postkonditionierung beschreibt in der Kardioprotektion ein Phänomen bei dem kurze Wechsel von Reperfusion und Ischämie zu Beginn der Wiedereröffnung eines verschlossenen Gefäßes dazu führen den Ischämie/Reperfusions-Schaden zu begrenzen. Verschiedene Kaliumkanäle in der inneren mitochondrialen Membran sind in aktiviertem Zustand an der Kardioprotektion durch Konditionierung beteiligt. Die Rolle des Calcium-aktivierten Kalium-Kanals mit großer Leitfähigkeit (BKCa) in der ischämischen Postkonditionierung wurde bisher nicht untersucht.
