Field localization on 2-dim extra space is considered in the framework of f ( R ) gravity. It is shown that interference of the local matter energy distribution and the metric of the extra space forms a point-like defect—a 4-dim brane. The energy-momentum of the brane depends on the initial conditions, which could lead to an arbitrarily small cosmological Λ term
