Die Bedeutung des oxidativen Stresses als ätiologischer Faktor in der Pathogenese der schizophrenen Psychosen und affektiven Störungen wird mehrfach diskutiert. In der vorliegenden Studie wurden die Konzentrationen zweier Isoenzyme der Superoxiddismutase (SOD), Cu/Zn-SOD und Mn-SOD, mittels ELISA in verschiedenen kortikalen und subkortikalen Regionen in post mortem Gehirngewebe von Patienten mit einer Erkrankung aus dem schizophrenen Formenkreis, mit einer depressiven Verstimmung und bei neuropsychiatrisch unauffälligen Individuen bestimmt.
