This report describes the results of a pilot project on e-mail-based Problem Management between KFA's Jülich's Central Institute for Applied Mathematics and IBM's Software Service in Mainz, Germany. The objection of the pilot project was to investigate whether e-mail-based Problem Management is technical feasible over public networks and how the use of e-mail could enhance the existing support AIX on RS/6000 workstations. The project demonstrated that Problem Management via e-mail improves the quality of the service process in several areas
