This work aims to reflect on the approximations that can be perceived between the short story "The Woman Destroyed” by French philosopher and writer Simone de Beauvoir and Elena Ferrante's novel The Days of Abandonment. By reading and analyzing both narratives, we seek to understand, based on gender studies and feminist criticism, why Beauvoir's story from 1967 still reverberates in Ferrante's novel from 2002.
