The theoretical and experimental studies of the car power unit functioning at unsteady modes have been conducted. The experimental studies have been conducted using the test stand for measuring engine performance. In addition, the measurements of the parameters of the power unit of the category N1 vehicle under natural conditions (the road tests in the modes of standardized driving cycles) have been made. The aim of the work is increasing the fuel efficiency of the vehicles under operating conditions. For this purpose, the transmission parameters have been optimised for the conditions of the vehicle driving in the standardized NEDC and WLTC driving cycles.
