La narrazione della guerra nei videogiochi

Nowadays, videogames are identified as feasible teaching aid in history. However, each attempt to use videogames in teaching was performed simply by changing the didactic tool using it within classical methods whereas it would be necessary to understand the media and take advance if its specific characteristic. However small development studies beyond the logic of large companies, showed up in the last decade and it allowed the birth and the spread of interesting videogames which outdo the mere commercial project. Therefore the examination of three essential games is proposed (11:11 Memories Retold, This War of Mine and My Memory of Us) which face the issue of war with different gameplays and perspectives, leaving behind the classical glamorous narration, made of heroes and explosions, giving space to a history from below, placing us in the shoes of ordinary people who are involved in war in the most disparate ways and who try to resist it as they can.Il videogioco è ormai identificato come un possibile ausilio nella didattica della storia. Tentativi di utilizzo dei videogiochi nella didattica sono stati però spesso portati avanti cambiando semplicemente lo strumento didattico utilizzato all’interno di metodologie classiche, laddove al contrario più utile sarebbe capire e sfruttare le specificità proprie del media. Nell’ultimo decennio però la creazione di piccoli studi di sviluppo, fuori dalle logiche delle grandi aziende, ha permesso la nascita e diffusione di videogiochi particolarmente interessanti che esulano dal mero progetto commerciale. Proponiamo allora l’analisi di tre titoli particolarmente importanti (11:11 Memories Retold, This War of Mine e My Memory of Us) che, con diversi gameplay e diverse prospettive affrontano il tema della guerra, abbandonando però la narrazione hollywoodiana fatta di eroi ed esplosioni, per lasciare spazio ad una “storia dal basso”, ponendoci nei panni di persone comuni, coinvolte dalla guerra nei modi più disparati e che ad essa cercano di sopravvivere come possono
