There are few studies who talk about the act of going up or down a step, even though this is one of the most difficult and dangerous activities of daily life when the motor function is compromised. Using surface electromyography (sEMG) and kinematics, we studied such movement, aiming at characterizing the movement kinematics and understanding of the role of each muscle in each step of the movement. We performed a data collection from a sample of 11 young healthy adults as well as a systematic review with metanalysis in order to find out if there is a pattern for this movement.
