The Heart of Universal Self

Universal Self is an archetype in which there is reciprocal correspondence between individual and universe. A pragmatic research design grounded in the hermeneutic tradition of inquiry is used to explore Universal Self from the perspective of Ancient Egypt by synthesizing historical texts with contemporary art and science. A heart devoted to Gods and Goddesses, and the immortal heart of Weighing of Heart ceremony, are described as crucial for overcoming psychological fragmentation and disequilibrium caused by division of labor during the agricultural revolution. To facilitate this process, Ancient Egyptians combined symmetries of the heart with knowledge from near-death experiences to create a symmetrical holographic network of psychological associations from micro to macro, starting with hieroglyphs and culminating in the Great Pyramid. The network corresponded to geomantic sites, earth, solar system, zodiacal constellations, galaxy, and a dodecahedral pattern of cosmic light emanating from the center of the universe. The correspondences supported an eternal First-Time state for the flow of peace and love, and purification and ascendance of the Pharaoh’s immortal soul, which served as a template for resurrection. As for near-death experiences, life review in the Weighing of the Heart ceremony provided motivation for psychological change and realization of love as the true purpose of life. Comparison to Jesus Christ suggests Christ is a more powerful deity than Ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses. Based on these findings, a peaceful heart fueled by universal light is presented as a model for psychospiritual growth.
