Shock and vibration testing was originally developed mainly by aerospace and military industries, but has today much wider application areas such as the automobile, construction, electronics, machine tool, packaging and shipbuilding industries. The goal is often to use testing with effects similar to the actual environment. In this paper the tailored environmental vibration testing process is studied and the essential considerations on the implementation of tailored testing are discussed. The study is based on available literature, mechanical tests of real products and measurements conducted in actual field conditions
