Designing a complex system-on-a-chip poses many challenges. Network on chip (NOC) is an architectural template, which can help meet many of these challenges and enable fast time to market for new products. NOC provides vertical integration of physical and architectural levels in system design, which helps in reuse at various levels of design. A NOC template consists of continuous areas called regions. A region of NOC will be composed of computing and storage resources connected by a switching fabric for message based communication.
