National audienceThe researchers of the Finnish Forest Research Institute recently showed that the european strains of the Armillariella mellea complex belong to five intersterile groups that can be considered as true linnean species. On the basis of this result, we tried to classify the french Armillariella isolates by pairing with haploid testers representing each of the five known european species. The method proved to be applicable for diploid isolates as well as for haploid ones. The results showed that at least four species exist in France : species « D » = A. mellea s. str. (29 recognized isolates), « C » = A. ostoyae (16 isolates), « E » = A. bulbosa (15 isolates) and « B » (5 isolates). Some specialization exists among these specie...
