A température ambiante, le PbTe et le SnTe sont des thermoélectriques efficaces avec une structure cubique. À basse température, le SnTe subit une transition ferroélectrique avec une température critique qui varie fortement en fonction de la concentration en trou, tandis que le PbTe commence seulement à exhiber des effets de ferroélectricité. En utilisant l’approximation harmonique stochastique et auto-cohérente, dans cette thèse nous étudions les spectres des phonons anharmoniques et la transition ferroélectrique dans les deux systèmes. On trouve que les spectres vibrationnels dépendent fortement de l’approximation utilisée pour la fonctionnelle d’échange et corrélation dans la théorie de la fonctionnelle de densité.
