La méthylation de la lysine 9 de l’histone 3 (H3K9), établie par les lysine méthyltransférases (KMTs) SETDB1, SUV39H1, G9A et GLP, représente un mécanisme épigénétique central dans la régulation du destin cellulaire. En particulier, la methylation d’H3K9 est directement impliquée dans la formation de l’hétérochromatine et l’extinction des gènes. Notre laboratoire a montré que les principales KMTs (SETDB1, G9A, GLP et SUV39H1) spécifiques de H3K9 forment un méga-complexe impliqué dans la répression transcriptionnelle, probablement via une coopération pour établir les différents niveaux de méthylation.
