La montée capillaire est l'une des illustrations les plus remarquables des effets de la tension superficielle. L'expérience consiste à placer un tube de petit diamètre au contact d'un liquide mouillant. Le liquide monte alors spontanément à l'intérieur du tube jusqu'à une hauteur qui peut atteindre plusieurs centimètres. En partant de cette expérience historique, nous extrayons des phénomènes nouveaux : (1) la dissipation au niveau de la ligne de contact, à l'origine d'une vitesse de montée constante à temps court, (2) la descente capillaire dans des milieux aérophiles qui donne lieu à de nouvelles dynamiques et (3) l'imprégnation capillaire dans des milieux complexes que nous illustrons par une montée capillaire dans des languettes flexibl...
