Determining lateral earth pressure

Prilikom projektiranja potpornih konstrukcija, podzemnih konstrukcija, zabatnih stijena i drugih potpornih zidova za osiguranje iskopa, od velike je važnosti pravilna i točna procjena bočnih pritisaka na spomenute konstrukcije. U ovom radu razrađene su Coulombova i Rankineova teorija određivanja aktivnih pritisaka i pasivnih otpora u koherentnom i nekoherentnom tlu te njihova primjena u praksi. Utjecaj bočnih pritisaka tla prikazan je na nekoliko primjera potpornih zidova, koji su također ukratko opisani u radu.When designing supporting structures, underground structures, sheetpile walls and other retaining walls to secure the excavation, it is of great importance to correctly and accurately estimate the lateral pressures on the said structures. In this thesis, Coulomb's and Rankine's theory of determining active pressures and passive resistances in cohesive and cohesionless soil under the influence of various factors and their application in practice are elaborated. The influence of lateral earth pressures is shown on several examples of retaining walls, which are also briefly described
