Isolation of bioactive compounds from Pistacia lentiscus L.

Tršlja (Pistacia lentiscus L.) je biljka koja je široko rasprostranjena u mediteranskim predjelima. Sadrži brojne strukturno različite skupine bioaktivnih molekula (BAM) od kojih, među značajnije, spadaju polifenoli te u eteričnim uljima prisutni monoterpeni i seskviterpeni. Bioaktivne molekule tršlje rasprostranjene su u gotovo svim dijelovima biljke kao što su listovi, plodovi, herba te korijen. Za izolaciju BAM važno je poznavati njihovu molekulsku strukturu, fizikalna i kemijska svojstva, a također je važno izabrati učinkovitu tehniku ekstrakcije te definirati optimalne uvjete pri kojima se postižu najveći prinosi. Stoga su ciljevi ovog rada bili: (i) prikazati pregled bioaktivnih molekula tršlje (ii) definirati sastavnice eteričnih ulja tršlje (iii) usporediti postupke ekstrakcije bioaktivnih molekula tršlje primjenom konvencionalnih i naprednih tehnika te (iv) opisati postupke izolacije eteričnih ulja.Mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus L.) is a plant species widely spread throughout the Mediterranean region. It contains numerous structurally various groups of the bioactive molecules (BAM), among which the most abundant are polyphenols and in essential oil presented monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes. Mastic tree bioactive molecules are distributed in almost all parts of the plant, such as leaves, fruits, herb and root. To choose an efficient extraction technique and to define the optimal conditions under which the highest yields of targeted BAMs are achieved it is important to know their molecular structure, physical and chemical properties. Therefore, the objectives of this paper were: (i) to present an overview of mastic tree bioactive molecules (ii) to define the composition of the mastic tree essential oils (iii) to compare conventional and advanced extraction technique of mastic tree bioactive molecules isolation (iv) to describe the methods of the essential oil isolation
