During the last years the increase of the number and intensity of natural disasters have resulted in big losses both human and material and adversely affected efforts toward achieving sustainable development goals. Due to the fact that in most disasters, the majority of those who have lost their lives are women and girls and at the same time women display a special ability and resilience during the disaster management process, it is important to approach all phases of disaster management from a gender perspective.
