The aim of this undergraduate thesis is to increase the representation of women in the labour force and to eliminate wage and earnings disparities. These two disparities, work and earning, are not challenges affecting only the European Union but the rest of the world as well. From the very beginning of the EU, the contribution of women in labour has been smaller than that of men. Also, women in jobs often prefer to work less hours, work in lower-paying professions, and hold lower-ranking positions than men, contributing to large gender wage and earnings disparities. These variations could be caused by deep-rooted traditional gender roles, but also by economic incentives
